Since earning her Ph.D. in quantum physics, Dr. Shiva has spent over 30 years strengthening communities around the world to achieve local food security. She pioneered the contemporary organic movement in India and established Navdanya, India’s largest network of seed keepers and organic producers. In 2003, Time magazine named her an environmental hero; Asia Week called her one of Asia’s five most powerful communicators. She has received the Right Livelihood Award (Alternative Nobel Prize), Order of the Golden Ark, Global 500 Award of the UN, Earth Day International Award, and the Lennon Ono Grant for Peace, among others. Her books include Soil Not Oil, Earth Democracy, Water Wars, Stolen Harvest, Biopiracy, and Staying Alive.
