Join us! Without demands from the global public, governments are unlikely to prioritise the urgent needs of the majority world and initiate global economic reform.

You can join the global campaign network by:

Raising your voice
Writing a letter/postcard to your Minister of Parliament (UK) or Congressperson (US) (see below for sample letter and details of how to find your MP/MEP)
Write a letter to your local newspaper editor for publication.
Write a personal blog or forum message about STWR and the issues we present  – don’t forget to add a link to www.stwr.org
Exercise your consumer power by shopping ethically for fair trade goods as this ensures a better deal for those in the developing world. Buying organic produce and locally produced goods benefits the environment as oil based fertilisers and air miles are kept to a minimum.

Raising awareness of the issues
Use the information on the website to present these issues to other individuals or organisations, such as schools, universities or church communities.  Let us know and we will give you all the support we can.
Inform your friends and email contacts about STWR. The email could be quite short, with just a brief introduction and a link to our web site for further information.

Writing a letter/postcard to your Minister of Parliament (UK) or Congressperson (US)

Dear ......................,

The current system of aid is incapable of ending poverty. The Millennium Development Goals, even if reached by 2105, will still leave 900 million people living in extreme poverty.

I write to tell you that 25 years of free market economics has failed impoverished countries, like many in sub-Saharan Africa, and greatly increased inequality and insecurity throughout the world.

The short-sightedness of endless economic growth, commercial self-interest and over-consumption has manifested in climate change which could prove catastrophic to life on earth unless a major turnaround in priorities is urgently enacted.

Nothing short of a fundamental shift in international policy can create a more sustainable world and end all forms of poverty. Our economic and political systems can no longer be based on competition and profit alone, but must reflect the principle of sharing.

Those resources which are central to life, such as basic food, water, energy, and essential medicine, should be cooperatively owned by the global public and shared according to basic human needs.

The UK/US* has the responsibility, as one of the richest nations in the world, of encouraging international consensus on global economic reform to secure human rights as per our commitment to the Universal Declaration of 1948.

We ask you to make it clear in Parliament/Congress* and internationally that we must Share The World's Resources.
